So the night of the Opera Ron and I dressed up in nice slacks (I knew I shouldn't have sent those home with you mom!) a nice button down t-shirt and my sports jacket. I was lookin good!
We arrive about fifteen minuets early, grab some complementary champagne and make our way to our seats. I didn't know what to expect but I knew the play was going to be in all Italian and was praying that they had a translation some where so I knew what was going on.
Here's a picture during the play.
And here is one I pulled off the web to show a reverse angle of the Opera House.
The play was called IL RRATTO DAL SERRAGLIO, this is a Mozart showing!
So here's the kicker with this Opera.... the curtains go up and the music starts along with the play. I kept looking at the translation on the screen and noticed it was Italian not American. A little bit later I realized that the play wasn't being sung in Italian either... it was German, so I'm at a German speaking play while trying to read the translation in German... I give up! I just did my best to put together what was happening :)
Around midnight the Opera ended and without missing a beat I was ready to leave. Not because I wanted to leave the show, but because the Metro closed in five minuets then we would have to walk to walk a long ways to get to the night bus.... Surely enough we missed the Metro. But it was ok, Ron and I discussed what we thought about it, and even though I didn't understand any of what they were saying, it's really cool to say that I got to see Mozart of all Operas in Italy.... So I'm pretty stoked about that!
